From our on-site, fully equipped surgical suite, the Central Animal Hospital team is capable of conducting a wide range of surgeries on your dog, cat or other pets. As well as straightforward elective surgeries like spaying and neutering, we are capable of performing many more complex procedures. We have all the necessary specialized equipment to enable us to perform orthopaedic procedures ranging from ligament or tendon repair to bone plating for fractured limbs. We also have the capability to do ultrasound-guided biopsies as well as many other soft tissue surgeries. Call us at 250-376-7208 to learn more.

Is anesthesia safe for pets?

Yes. You can rest assured your pet is in very capable hands with skilled surgeons and trained technicians monitoring anesthetic levels using state of the art monitoring equipment throughout all procedures. We perform the necessary tests in advance to see if your pet is a good candidate for anesthesia. Just like with humans, any time your pet goes in for surgery and is put under general anesthesia, there is risk. We do our best to reduce this risk by using specialized equipment to monitor your pet for safety. Our machines monitor everything from blood pressure to ECG, blood oxygen, and heart rate.

How should I prepare my pet for their surgery?

During your pre-op consultation, your veterinarian will provide you with all of the steps you need to take for your pet’s specific case. That being said, there are general advices that we give to most of our pet parents. First, please arrive on time for your pet’s surgery! This will help our team stay on schedule to treat all of the patients coming in for the day. We also advice that you give your pet no solid foods the night before their surgery.
