Euthanasia Services

A compassionate procedure for cats and dogs suffering from chronic pain or terminal illness.

Our team here at Central Animal Hospital understands the impossible position you and your family now find yourselves in. We are pet parents like you and many of us have gone through the same thing. Please know we will be with you every step of the way as you explore euthanasia for your furry family member. To learn more about our end-of-life services, please do not hesitate to call us at 250-376-7208 to speak with one of our client care receptionists.

How do I know if my pet should be euthanized?

Whenever you are ready, we recommend you come to the hospital for a one-on-one consultation with your veterinarians so you can discuss in detail if euthanasia is a possible option for your pet. That being said, some points that you can consider are if your pet is in chronic pain no longer manageable with medications, if they can no longer perform bodily functions independently, and if they can no longer eat without medical intervention.

Is pet euthanasia painful?

Not at all. Once they receive the injection of the euthanasia drug, your pet will slowly fall into a peaceful sleep. Then as the drugs set in, their organs will begin to fail systematically.

Can you describe your end-of-life services?

Our pet euthanasia services are done in a private and quiet area. We also work with Okanagan Pet Cremation services, and help owners honour their pets through commemorative urns or paw impression ceramics from Peartree Impressions.
